We had Andy Beal from the Environment Agency visit us
yesterday to carry out a stock assessment of the fish in Hartwrights Lake with
first and second year Level 3 BTEC Countryside Management students.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the morning with Andy who also explained the role of the organisation, career routes
into the industry and with the involvement of all students netted the lake for
a stock assessment. Students didn't seem to mind the prospect of getting cold and wet in
order to net the lake to evaluate stock density, progressing onto
electro-fishing in the stream nearby. Perch, rudd and carp appeared in the catch!
